Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu

Tour Machu Picchu - Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement to the Incas. Its agreeable climate and fertile plains make a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. It was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to the fruits and plants of the tropical lowlands.The Sacred Valley has an altitude of 2,800 m and combines the charm of the beautiful scenery with archaeological sites of great importance.Machu Picchu lay hidden from the world for a long time because its location is fairly remote and inaccessible. Machu Picchu is located high up on a mountainside.

1ST DAY

We are leaving in the morning for Pisaq, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas about 1 hour from Cusco. There we will do a tour of the archaeology of the region which will last for approximately 2 hours. Afterwards we will head towards Urubamba going through different towns such as Coya, Lamay, Calca and the river valley of Vilcanota. We will reach Urubamba around noon and have lunch in a buffet restaurant (not included in the tour). Afterwards we will head towards Ollantaytambo, where we will have a guided tour of the site. At 7:00pm you will take the train to Aguas Calientes where the transfer will take you to the hostel.

2ND DAY

Very early in the morning you will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Sanctuary. There you will have a 2 hour tour, where the guide will explain you more about the historical legacy and the importance of this place during the times of the Incas. Then you will return to Aguas Calientes, having time for lunch and to visit the town. In the afternoon you will return by train to Ollantaytambo and from there a bus to Cusco.
